Where the Jobs Are

Here you will find links to sites listing jobs in Massachusetts and elsewhere. Many of the websites that list jobs also contain a wealth of information on job hunting, resume writing, interviewing, salary negotiation, job inquiry, networking and more. Links to educational resources, job exam preparation, and computer and other types of training are included.

Websites offering job openings fall into the categories below, which might give you further ideas for your job search.

Job boards

Many employers pay sites such as Monster and CareerBuilder to post their openings.

Job aggregators

Sites such as Indeed.com and Simply/Hired contain the most complete listing of jobs available. They pull listings from many other sites, including job boards, and present them in one convenient location. You will often see the same job pulled in from a variety of sources.

Media sites

Newspapers offer online listings of the jobs they carry in the classified sections of their papers.

Corporate/organization sites

Most companies and organizations (i.e., colleges and other non-profits) list open jobs in the Career section of their websites. Since some of these job lists may be hard to find from the home page you may need to use the site's search function, quick links or alphabetized list of departments and information sources to find them.

Associations

Many groups and organizations will offer job listings on their websites.

Other types of websites

Some sites like Craigs List, which was originally founded as a site to buy and sell items, now have a very large job listing component. In some cases employers pay a small fee to list their jobs.
