Bring your tissues to this screening of Verdi's heart-rending and tragic La Traviata. Soprano Renee Fleming makes her Covent Garden debut as Violetta in this sumptuous production from the Royal Opera House, filmed live in 2009. The excellent cast includes tenor Joseph Calleja as Alfredo Germont and baritone Thomas Hampson as Germont senior. The versatile Richard Eyre directs, with maestro Antonio Papano at the podium. Sung in Italian with English subtitles, the opera runs three hours, including intermission. All adults are welcome.
