She will be here in person to discuss her new book The Girl in the Green Dress, which is based on a real story! Journalist Morris Markey (wrote for The Atlantic and The New Yorker) was shot and killed in 1950. Actually, authorities couldn't determine whether is was [censored] or [censored]. Mariah jumps back to the 1920's when Markey was reporting on the death of Joseph Elwell, a Gatsby-eques figure who runs in the same circle as F. Scott and Zelda Fitzgerald. Markey is determined to make it as a writer thus the Elwell [censored] case was his chance for a break in the newspaper industry. Apparently, Elwell was shot after a night out with a mysterious girl in a green dress. About the author: Mariah Fredericks writes the Jane Prescott Mystery series-which are set in 1910s New York. Born and raised in NYC, Mariah graduated from Vassar College with a degree in history. A past head copy writer for Book-of the-month club, Mariah as also written several historical fictions (i.e. The Lindbergh Nanny (2022) and The Wharton Plot (2024)).
