The Confidante (the story about Anna Rosenberg who was the advisor for 4 presidents) author, Christopher Gorham returns to talk about his new book! Through the eyes of world re-known impressionist, Henri Matisse, Christopher portrays the advancement of fascism and war into French life and culture during WWII in his new book Matisse at War . Christopher will share a slide show during his talk. An ARC (advanced reader copy) will be given away to one lucky in-person audience member at the end of the program! Light refreshments will be served. Please indicate when registering if you plan to be here in person or zoom.  About the book:  Spotlighting the years during WWII when Henri Matisse and his family defiantly refused to evacuate [censored]-occupied France, this groundbreaking book illuminates the previously untold history of their passionate roles in the Resistance and the prodigious, revolutionary work the artist produced in the face of fascism, violence, and hate. About the author:  Christopher C. Gorham is a lawyer, educator, and acclaimed author of THE CONFIDANTE (a Goodreads Choice Award finalist in History/Biography) and MATISSE AT WAR (Citadel, Sept. 30, 2025). His writing has appeared in the Washington Post, Literary Hub, Paper Brigade, and elsewhere. He is a frequent speaker at conferences, literary events, classrooms, and book club gatherings around the country.
