Michelle Poor artist statement: I hold a degree in Fine Arts from Bridgewater State College. Like many Art Majors, after a few years past graduation I abandon my pursuit of art for many reasons. Upon retirement from my library career, I found my way back to art I have tried not to limit my media choices too much, but I seem to gravitate toward traditional drawing media, pastels, and I have been pleased to discover how much art technology has changed in 30 years. Here I am not speaking of digital art, but rather dry/wet medias. I have discovered water soluble wax crayons, pastels, ink crayons, markers, and a watercolor stick that can be used as a crayon. For me, if it can be used as a crayon I like it. Getting to further manipulate it with a wet brush is even better. What I do not do much of is traditional painting, oil, watercolor, acrylic. Picking up paint with a brush and swirling it around on canvas is not my thing. As soon as I realized that I didn't like the brushy thing, I became happier with my art.
