Description :

Calling all aspiring novel writers on Cape Cod! Joseph Gibbs, is coming back to Hyannis Public Library to share his writing skills! Join us on Saturdays in June and July of 2026 for a FREE weekly novel writing workshop and seminar! When author Joseph Gibbs was working on his debut novel âFrankâ (Brogan Camden, 2022), he had two high-profile literary mentors. The first was John Knowles, author of the 1960 coming-of-age novel âA Separate Peaceâ. Gibbs told in an interview that âHe would read my work, and direct me and mentor me on my writing.â Gibbsâ second mentor was Pulitzer Prize-winning author and historian Doris Kearns Goodwin. When he completed a draft of âFrank,â Gibbs gave it to Doris to read, âand she was thrilled with it.â Gibbs ended up living in the Goodwinsâ house in Concord while rewriting his novel. âI tend to write in the early morning hours â I feel most clear-headed at that time. In the dark cold of Concord winter, I would often run into Doris in the very early morning, and we would go off to write.â Later in the morning, Gibbs would join the couple for breakfast, âand then everyone would go to separate rooms to continue writing.â Join us!
